Re: Sign-up: How to Wetsand & Buff a 1960 Glastron Fireflight
Mike- I appreciate you and Marine 31 making this type of opportunity available to the public.
I know I'm new here, but I'm definitely interested in trying to make this...trying to see how flights from Seattle would work out. Might be one of those "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunities. I'm going to look over the next week or so and figure this out, if I can make it I'll send you a PM directly. (Side note, my initial order of Marine 31 products are still in the mail and will be here tomorrow! Excited to start compounding/polishing/waxing my boats.) |

I've been in this industry all of my working life and I've never seen any other company offer boat detailing classes like our boat detailing classes. 2013 Marine 31 Year in Review - The boats of Marine31Online.com Quote:
If not a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity then very rare opportunity indeed. John told me there's a lot of interest in this topic for a couple of reasons, 1. Growing segment of the boat hobby to restore classic boats and painting a restored boat won't be as durable as re-gel-coating the boat. Quote:

Re: Sign-up: How to wetsand, cut and buff a boat class
Quote:
Thursday, August 28th Normally I start these classes at 5:00pm and go to around 9:00pm to 10:00pm depending upon how many people attend, how bad the boat is and how big the boat is. Because this project will be shown on Ship Shape TV a few weeks after we do the work on the project it's important to have enough time to do the job right without rushing. For these reasons I'm going to plan on starting this project at 9:00am I don't want to cut our selves short plus this way there's plenty of hands-on time for everyone that attends. There's no substitute for hands-on experience. At our last boat detailing project we had a young man by the name John all the way from his home country of India attend our class to learn these skills. How to wetsand, cut and buff a gel-coat boat John machine wetsanding the side of a boat hull using the Rupes Duetto with Rupes #3000 grit sanding discs. So clear your schedule and make your travel arrangements to be here on August 28th.

Meet & Greet at the Marriott
The Wednesday night before this class there will be a casual "Meet & Greet" at the Marriott Courtyard starting at 7:00am and I will be attending this function to meet everyone that is traveling in from out of town and out of state. Meet & Greet at the Marriott Courtyard... There will probably be a meet greet Thursday night after this project has been completed to celebrate!

Sounds great, my Sundancer 320 (2005) blue hull needs wet sanding badly and I need to learn how asap!!
Since I live in Fort Lauderdale, I'll drive straight up the 28th.. Thanks Barry G. |

You're on the list!
You're on the list! Quote:
You're on the list Barry. I'm confident that you're going to like this project. It is SO MUCH FASTER to machine sand off years of oxidation and then simply buff out your sanding marks than it is to try to compound off years of oxidation using a rotary buffer. You're on the list!
