Default Re: New Episode on Ship Shape - Tips for waxing your boat!

Here's some shots from behind the scenes when we filmed this segment. For this segment we used Max's 20 Albury Brother's Center Console, this boat previously belonged to Alan Jackson and has all the bells and whistles.

Taping-off Tip
For boats with molded in, non-skid surfaces, we show using 3M Painter's Tape to tape-off the outer edges of the non-skid so you don't have to worry about getting wax into the non-skid surface.

This is because it will be hard to remove once it dries in these areas and by taping these areas off you can apply the wax a lot faster by hand or machine.

Foam Finger Pockets
Here you can see Mike using a Blue Foam Finger Pocket to apply the Marine 31 Gel-Coat Carnauba Wax + Sealant.

Swirl-Free Machine Waxing
Here's Bert using a Flex XC 3401 Dual Action Polisher to machine wax the sides of the hull. Because the Flex 3401 is a forced rotation, forced oscillation polisher, you cannot instill swirls into painted boats or gel-coat boats. It's a Professional Grade tool designed to be punished 7 days a week, year around in detail shops.

The host of Ship Shape TV, John Greviskis like to have his two boys and guys from his camera crew do the actual work for the products being showcased instead of the Representatives for the company like me in this instance and the reason for this it to get the message out to the audience that,

You can do it too...

And you really can do this kind of machine buffing with a tool like the Flex 3401 as it's completely safe.

Sharing this forum on TV!
In this segment we're going to share our Marine31Online.com discussion forum so Mike is capturing some footage to show the TV audience.

After the show
After the segment was filmed, we turned the boat around and I completely machine waxed the entire exterior as we only did s spot for the show. Now she's gleaming like she did when she was brand new.

Took a wall photo shot with John after this segment...
