Ship Shape TV - Sealing a T-Top with fresh paint

Ship Shape TV - Sealing a T-Top with fresh paint

On Saturday, May 11th, 2013 I'll joining John Greviskis on Ship Shape TV to share tips and techniques for sealing new paint after 30 days air dry on a recently painted T-top.

In this shot we're talking about machine versus hand application where as machine application is best for large surfaces like the exterior hull when it comes to working on the T-Top because of the tubing this type of wax application is done best by hand.

The T-Top was powder coated and has been drying for over a month so it's perfect for sealing at this time and the painter recommended to John to thoroughly seal the paint with a quality wax before applying any of the covering or wiring.

To make it easy to apply the Gel Coat Carnauba Wax + Sealant we used the blue foam Finger Pockets. These worked perfect for coating all of the tubes with a uniform layer of wax.

Pictured here wiping the first coat of wax off the T-Top from left to right are Bert, Johnathan, John and Mike the cameraman...

We applied two coats of wax to the T-Top after allowing the first application to fully dry before wiping it off. Two thin coats ensures,
  • Uniform coverage
  • Maximum protection

Next John and crew will be installing the sealed, protected and very nice looking red T-Top onto their project boat a 1961 Bertram.

I just looked up when Ship Shape TV comes on at my house with my TV provider, (Comcast), and it looks like it's going to be on at 10:30am this morning.

Just to note, if you create an account on Locate TV you can add your favorite shows to "My Picks" and then when you pull up the TV listings feature like you see below your shows are color coded in yellow. This makes it easy to find your shows when looking for something to watch. LocateTV.com also sends you an e-mail listing all your favorite shows and the times and channels they are on. Pretty cool website...

Countdown....

We're on in about 5 minutes... I haven't seen the final cut so this is brand new to me too. John is a lot of fun to work with as he has a real casual style and likes to joke around a lot...

If you watch it, please post your feedback, tell us what you think...
